Employment – CAP Site Coordinator- Terence Bay

Under the direction of the Resource Opportunities Centre the Student Intern will:

  • Perform general office duties, filing, typing, answering phone, customer service etc.
  • Provide leadership in program development
  • Responsible for design, co-ordination and delivery of programs
  • Responsible for scheduling of children’s programs and activities
  • Liaise with Community Centre staff regarding programs
  • Provide public access to ROC’s technology
  • Supervise & monitor ROC C@P site use
  • Provide basic computer trouble shooting assistance to general public
  • Produce print material as required
  • Promote and create awareness of the ROC & prospectcommunities.com
  • Promote ROC services, projects and programs
  • Participate in training and planning sessions as required
  • Work with centre staff and support community initiatives as required
  • Submit regular reports
  • Liaise with Halifax Regional C@P Youth team
  • Use computer based management system

Description:
The Youth Intern will ensure the daily operation of the Resource Opportunities Centre – Terence Bay C@P site, assist visitors with low computer literacy, create and update local and online content on a variety of platforms as required, participate in local social media projects, update local information on map databases, participate in offsite group events, assist with the delivery of workshops/summer camps if required.

Interaction with a diverse clientele of various ages, including seniors and youth, is a significant portion of the duties required of the intern.  The intern will demonstrate a strong appreciation for social, cultural and racial diversity in the workplace.

Youth interns report to the Youth Program Coordinator (offsite) and the designated site supervisor.  Participation is expected on provincial-in-scope projects with Youth Interns from across Nova Scotia through online meetings.  Each Youth Intern may develop his or her own community based project, subject to approval by the Youth Program Coordinator.

Qualifications:
Candidates, between the ages of 15-30 years of age, must be attending post secondary education and intend to return to studies in the fall. Proof is required on application.

Ideal candidates have previous experience or education in delivering public access, community media, information management, IT management, Social Media and SEO.

Experience with Joomla!, WordPress and MoveableType CMS an asset. Multilingual Candidates preferred.

Salary: The position will pay $11.00/hr. This is 10 week position at 35 hour/week position commencing May 31st
