Volunteer Opportunities

If you want to get involved in the Prospect Road Community Centre or other ROC projects, we would love to hear from you.

Management Board
The ROC – Resource Opportunities Centre, Community Development Association Serving the Prospect Road Area – is the Volunteer Management Board for the Prospect Road Community Centre.

The ROC actively recruits residents to join the organizations Board of Directors or sub-committees of the Board.

The ROC Board of Directors meets on average once a month, as do the sub-committees. HRM staff support the work of the ROC Board in an advisory capacity.

At present the ROC Board of Directors is full, but we have lots of active sub-committees that may interest you.

The ROC was originally established in 1998 as the Terence Bay & Area C@P site. Located in the Terence Bay Elementary school the ROC’s C@P site continues to provide public access to computers and the Internet to the school and wider community, computer training to people of all ages and children’s camps and activities.

Since opening the doors of the C@P site there have been more than 100 employment positions created (mainly part time youth) and numerous community projects undertaken. The most significant of which (before the Community Centre) has been the Building Bridges project, 2005 – 2008 through which www.prospectcommunities.com was created.

The public computer access at the Prospect Road Community Centre is a satellite C@P site of the Terence Bay site.
